Galena Creek Visitor Information Center is located on the Mount Rose Scenic Byway. The first major interpretive facility on any of the primary gateways to Lake Tahoe, it offers resources to travelers along the Mt. Rose Highway and Wilderness Area.

Galena Creek Visitor Information Center is surrounded on three sides by the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest and the Mount Rose Wilderness. The Visitor Center is staffed with vounteers of the Great Basin Institute which provides community outreach, educational and interpretive programming about the natural and cultural history of the region. There is a solar powered weather station, pedestrian & equestrain trails, group & individual picnic sites and a half-mile paved nature trail. Along with the diverse slate of public programs that appeal to all ages the visitors center has a retail shop and restrooms.
