The pump is made by the sculpter Joris Dumery.
Joris Dumery (Hove, Silly, 1715 - Bruges, 1787) was a famous bell-founder and builder of several carillon. He was married to Mary D'Hondt from Hilvarenbeek, descended from a family of watchmakers. He was apprenticed to Alexius Jullien in Lier.
For the construction of the new carillon in the belfry of Bruges in 1741 he arrived in this city to live.
The name of Joris Dumery is engraved in the plaque on the right side of the pump. The pump handle is obscured by foliage on left side as you look at stone surround.

Deze pomp was waarschijnlijk een schenking van de de bekende klokkenbouwer Joris Dumery.
Joris Dumery (Hoves, Opzullik, 1715 - Brugge, 1787) was een bekend klokkengieter en bouwer van verschillende beiaards. Hij was gehuwd met Maria d'Hondt uit Hilvarenbeek, die stamde uit een familie van uurwerkmakers. Hij ging in de leer bij Alexius Jullien in Lier.
Voor de bouw van de nieuwe beiaard voor het belfort van Brugge kwam hij in 1741 in deze stad wonen.
