The confluence of the Rapidan and the Rappahannock is also know as the "Rock Garden" for it's shallow and rocky navigation. There are Virginia state boat ramps upstream, Ely's Ford (N38.35945 W77.68579) on the Rapidan and Kelly's Ford (N 38° 28.622 W 077° 46.845) on the Rappahannock. There is also Rappahannock Campground in Richardsville on the Rappahannock. On a recent trip I met two fishermen who said they parked and walked in but I wasn't aware of an established trial to the confluence.
