The Nine Mile Portage trail is an ancient aboriginal pathway connecting the waterways from Lake Simcoe to Lake Huron to the north. This boardwalk carries the trail straight across a small swamp from Grenfel Road into the treeline, saving a long dogleg path to get around the swamp.
