This zinc Confederate memorial is an obelisk-type monument on a concrete base. There are four bas relief images, one on each side of the monument above the text panels. The panel on the east side is of a mounted cavalryman, on the north side crossed sabers, on the west side the bust of a private soldier, and on the south side a stack of three rifles. On the lowest part of the monument on the east side is the following text in large letters: "Nov. 30, 1881."
Text on east panel:
In memory of the
Confederate
Soldiers
of
Jackson County, Florida
Text on north panel:
We care not whence they came,
dear in their lifeless clay!
Whether unknown, or known
to fame,
their cause and country
still the same -
they died - and wore the gray.
Text on west panel:
In God we trust.
Text on south panel:
Of the warriors tried and true,
who bore the flag of our
peoples trust,
and fell in a cause, though lost,
still just,
and died for me and you.
