We contacted the local history society when we originally searched for this milestone who informed us that it was being restored after the major roadworks in the area. Now it is painted, placed and displayed for all to see. The cut marks are original but will have been moved from their primary positions. The one on the top looks more genuine and may have contained a rivet, the other is a much bolder, painted-in mark.
