Earling Carothers "Jim" Garrison was born in Iowa and raised in New Orleans. After being elected DA in New Orleans, he cracked down on Bourbon Street bars, strip joints and prostitution. In 1966, after receiving tips, he began an investigation into the "conspiracy theory" of President Kennedy's assassination. He also wrote numerous books on the theory, and had a short part in Oliver Stone's 1991 film, JFK.
