The land for Howard "Pappy" Litch park was once a federal weigh station along old Route 66. It was donated by members of the community and the Chamber of Commerce in 2001 for development as a Route 66 Attraction and park.
The park has a pretty gazebo, flags, an expanse of grass, a tall Will Rogers Highway marker, and also a Route 66 dedication marker, which is also called the Will Rogers Highway. This marker was originally located at the Kansas-Missouri border on the post 1940s alignment, and is just like the one in California.
In addition to this park, the Howard Litch Historical and Mining Museum is another attraction in Galena that is named for Litch.
