This station is a U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey standard bench mark disk, located on the Henry Wilson Highway (NH Route 11), in Farmington, NH. It is set in the top of the southeast wing wall of a concrete bridge crossing the Mad River.
This is a reset station, replacing station OC0726 (C&GS -U 4 1933-), that was set on a railroad bridge (for the former B&M Lakeport Branch) crossing over a gravel road. The railroad no longer exists, and the bridge was most likely demolished.
The designation stamping says -U 4 RESET 1953-, although the datasheets are calling it RESET 1954. This station is definitely OC0727. Both NGS and NHDOT datasheets are accessible at the links below.
This disk has some sort of clear coating on it, which appears to be common practice for NH highway bridge stations, as I have found many like this one. Whatever it is, it makes some of the marks difficult to view and photograph. This one is not the worst I have seen, but without the coating it would have most likely had a bright green patina.
