By 1903 the original bell frame, being made of wood, became unsafe and the bells could no longer be rung. Messrs Mears and Stainbrook of Whitechapel won the contract to restore the bells for £204-5-0d, this price later being increased to £311-0-4d when it was decide to add two further bells and an octave. The contract included clearing the belfrey, replacing the floor, providing a new bell frame, headstocks, wheels and ropes and quarter turning the bells.
The bells were again retuned in 1970 by Taylors of Loughborough. The original tenor bell, which had developed a crack, was recast in 1984 at a cost of £5065 by the same company.
To celebrate the 60th Wedding anniversary of Terry Coome and his wife Dot a Peal of Middlesex Bob Triples (5040 changes which took 3hrs 3mins) rang out over St Germans. Terry was ringing master for 50 years.
