The Amos and Ida Jenasen House, built c. 1908, is significant for its association with Sandy's historical developement. This house is located in one of the first subdivisions in Sandy, a developement practice that would eventually dictate the growth of the entire community. This house is an extremely well preserved example of a Victorian cottage.
Amos and Ida had three children. Amos found work in the assay office of the U.S. Smelting & Refining Company in Midvale. He later joined the firm of R.H. Officer & Co. Assayers in Salt Lake City, where he remained for 25 years. He was noted as one of the best assayers in the state of Utah. Delbert and Margaret Fugal bought the home in 1945. James Witherspoon purchased the home in 2000 and has done extensive historical restoration.
