1 Truly, O Theophilus, I made the first report as to all things that Jesus began both to do and teach
2 until the day He was taken up, having given directions to the apostles whom He chose, through the Holy Spirit;
3 to whom He also presented Himself living after His suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them through forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God.
So begins the Acts of the Apostles, written by Luke.
Luke is one of the 4 evangelists, one of the 4 authors of the gospels in the bible. Luke was a physician who lived in the Greek city of Antioch. First mention of him is in Paul's Epistle to Philemon 1:24 and also Mark, Aristarchus, Demas, Luke, my fellow-laborers. He is also mentioned in Colossians 4:14 Luke, the beloved physician, and Demas, greet you and 2 Timothy 4:11 Only Luke is with me. Take Mark and bring him with you, for he is profitable to me for the ministry two works commonly ascribed to Paul.
