This utility box is much smaller than most of the painted ones; it's labeled a "utility power outlet" and was made by a company in Mankato, Minnesota. Apparently it supplies up to 100 amps. It looks much older than the buildings and businesses and houses of the surrounding neighborhood, which appear to date from the 1970s or 1980s; note that there is no Zip Code on the manufacturer's labels.

The artist has dressed it up with some very subtle star motifs.

The painting of utility boxes in this neighborhood is sponsored by the Mira Mesa Town Council (a volunteer/business organization) and has been spearheaded by the Mira Mesa High School art department. See (visit link) for more information.

There are photos of about 30 of the other Mira Mesa utility boxes, some with info about the artists, at (visit link) .
