The town of Slick is located on Highway 16, ten miles southeast of Bristow in Creek County. In March, 1920, a discovery well was drilled here and the town sprung up overnight. The area soon had a population of almost 5000. The Oklahoma-Southwest Railway Company constructed a line from Bristow to Slick, and the town was booming. By 1930, however, the oil business was dwindling, and the railroad shut down service to the area. The population diminished over the years till it stands at about 140 today.

By the 1970s, the depot was in use as the First Baptist Church of Slick. The depot is in excellent condition. Constructed of native stone, it is solid and has been well preserved. The roof is covered with composition shingle and a steeple has been added. The main entrance on the south is covered by the depot portico. It was a pleasant surprise to drive through town and do a double-take on this building. You discover vintage depots in the most amazing places.
