These ghost signs are small metal advertisements for various brands of cigarettes. They are located on a canopy support at an old abandoned and deteriorated gas station in the town of Slick. Slick was settled in 1920 when a discovery well was established here. From a population of upwards toward 5000 in the area, the town currently sits at 140 residents with no businesses except the post office.
The brand "Chesterfield" can be read on one of the signs, and another reads "Reach for flavor - Reach for (the brand is not readable)". Another sign reads "L & M". Ironically, on the other side of the canopy support is a sign reading "No Smoking".
