US Post Office--Nephi Main ~ Nephi, Utah - U.S. National Register of Historic Places on Waymarking.com

The construction of this historic building was beset by problems from the very start. Although the site was acquired in 1918 and the local citizenry assured that the Federal Government was going to provide them with a new post office on the site, the project couldn't start until local postal revenues exceeded a certain threshold. That didn't happen until the early 1930's and took some finagling on the part of the towns political representatives to finally begin the project. And then the ceremony to place the cornerstone could not take place as scheduled since the cornerstone had not arrived!! But the project was finally completed and provided many local jobs during the economic hard times of the depression.
