A long, undulating walk then a steep descent leads you to Forty Foot Falls. Once at the falls it is difficult to see them through the trees so it is best to walk underneath them. There is a large cavern behind the falls where you can seek respite from the summer heat & prepare yourself for the ascent of those 112 steps.
The falls escaped metrification but if they hadn't then they would be the 12 Metre Falls. A small joke.
I took the co-ordinates just above the tree line by climbing a set of stairs. The hand rails & indeed the steps showed their age at times.
These falls would probably appeal more to bush walkers than families however the kids may enjoy being under them especially if there has been a bit of decent rain. The walk starts from Lake Alexander & at one point along the track you need to keep an eye out for the turn - the marker is below you to your right & hard to see. The lake itself is ideal for families with a playground, walks, ducks & numerous picnic areas.
