On the eleventh month, eleventh day and the eleventh hour in 2006 the Sweetser Community was presented a Memorial to all American Veterans by the Sweetser Lions Club. This memorial is an on going project with plans in the future to add landscaping and military insignias from all branches of service. (branches added in 2008).
Lion Scott Zagol led the dedication with introductions of Pastor Damon Hayward who gave the invocation, posting of colors by Marine Corps League Tripoli Detachment, the Pledge of Allegiance led by Sweetser Lions Veteran Richard Keller and the National Anthem sang by Beth Ohnesorge. Guest speaker Larry Wilson, Grant County Veterans Affairs, spoke to the crowd about the service of veterans to this country. Chuck Briede Sweetser Town Council President accepted the Memorial on behalf of the Town of Sweetser. The colors was retired and a red white & blue flower arrangement was placed on the Veterans Memorial.
