Inscription: (Front of base, in raised, polished lettering:) 24TH/WISCONSIN/INFANTRY/LYTLE'S BRIGADE/SHERIDAN'S DIVISION/MCCOOK'S CORPS (Bronze medallion on side of base:) WISCONSIN unsigned
Description: A uniformed Civil War soldier stands loading his rifle. He holds the rifle
(missing) with his proper left hand at waist level. His upraised proper right hand originally held a ramrod, now missing. The soldier has a moustache and wears a brimmed hat, and has pouches on his rear waist. A sheathed sword is on his proper left hip. The soldier is mounted upon a sloping base decorated with a star on the top of each face. On one side of the base is a medallion with the State of Wisconsin seal. The bottom tier of the base is rough-edged.
Remarks: The monument commemorates the involvement of the 24th Wisconsin Infantry, Lytle's Brigade, Sheridan's Division, McCook's Corps at the Battle of Chickamauga during the Civil War. It marks the position held by the regiment during the battle. It was placed by the State of Wisconsin.
