The Dyer family farmed part of the area where the Battle of Chickamauga was fought, September 19-20, 1863. This small family cemetery is located just west of the Dyer homestead on Dyer Rd at Chickamauga-Vittatoe Rd. I only saw 6 headstones.

The Dyer family farmed part of the area where the Battle of Chickamauga was fought, September 19-20, 1863. This small family cemetery is located just west of the Dyer homestead on Dyer Rd at Chickamauga-Vittatoe Rd. I only saw 6 headstones. All of the headstones were simple stones crafted from local rocks. I was able to see some engravings on one of the headstones.

For information on the family’s that lived where the battle was fought in 1863, see The families of Chickamauga by Fred Brown.
