In 2008 Germany and Switzerland issued a stamp with the same picture showing the longest covered bridge of Europe crossing the border between Bad Säckingen and Stein.

This is a joint issue stamp of Germany and Switzerland issued in 2008. It show the old wooden bridge of Bad Säckingen which is the longest covered bridge of Europe. In the background there is the historic center of Bad Säckingen with the cathedral.
It was first documented in 1272 but was maybe up to 200 years older. The bridge was destroyed and rebuilt several times during the centuries. The current bridge is from 1699. It is 206.5 meters long. Until 1801 both banks of the Rhine were Austrian properties, then the river became the border between Switzerland and Baden, later Germany.
