In 1991 the Phoenix Pride Commission was created. It lists 33 places are claimed to represent the best features of the city for both residents and visitors.
This 3 1/2 acre Japanese Stroll Garden is a joint project of Phoenix, Arizona and their sister city, Himeji, Japan. More than 50 landscape architects from Himeji contributed to this project.
It features more than 1,500 tons of hand picked rock, stone footbridges, lanterns and more than 50 varieties of plants. Flowing streams, a 14-foot waterfall and a 5/8 acre Koi pond with over 300 colorful Koi fish add to its beauty.
A mere $5 fee gets you inside the garden. To participate in the tea ceremony, you need reservations and an additional fee. The garden is open October to May. Specific dates vary.
Located in downtown Phoenix, it is easily accessible by car or public transportation. It is one of 33 attractions in Phoenix' Points of Pride. Page 9 of
