The memorial is outside the perimeter wall of the former church of St Mary. The church is now a private residence and a garden lies amongst the cemetery. There is a level crossing nearby on the railway line between Wool and Wareham.

A wooden cross is situated in the centre of the memorial with wreaths. The unusual design is constructed by the Purbeck Stone and General Trading Company of Swanage. It was unveiled on 23rd April 1922 and was Grade II Listed on 13th October 2008.

The memorial inscriptions read:

'In grateful memory of the men of East Stoke who fell in the Great War 1914-1918. I thank my God upon ever remembrance of you.'

'R.N.

Harry Reginald Eves

Norman Walter Alastair Hadow

'This commemorates those who gave their lives to save mankind in the World War 1939-1945'
