U.S. Geological Survey benchmark along old Shevlin-Hixon railroad grade (F.S. Rd. 4100 700). Shevlin-Hixon opened a lumber mill in Bend in 1916 which operated until 1950. Timber was hauled to Bend by railroad, this cap is along the mainline route.
