On 4/10/2013 a massive landslide totally destroyed the Mine Visitor Center. Because of advance warning everything at the Visitor Center had been removed to a safe location. A new Visitor Center will probably not be available until after 2014.

Plants play an important role in land reclamation. Revegetation of the land distrubed by the mining operations at the Kennecott Copper, Bingham Canyon Mine is a major priority. Native plants as shown in the photo gallery are planted by Kennecott to protect the watershed, prevent erosion, and provide for the wildlife. Thousands of acres of mined land have been planted with trees, bushes, flowers and grasses to achieve this goal of land reclamation.
