Located within the Grand Gulf Military Memorial Park, this cemetery sits high on a hill above what was once a major river town in the early 1800's. The cemetery has been reclaimed back from nature by the park. While time has definitely taken its toll on the old markers, by looking at the approximately 200 total graves and the 160 tombstones with inscriptions that can still be read, one can still get a sense of the history of the town and the terrible epidemics that decimated it prior to the Civil War.
