Niawanda Park is the largest park in the City of Tonawanda. Although it is very narrow, it is about a mile long. All of the park is sunk below street level as it occupies the former Erie Canal when it used to continue on to Buffalo. There are four entrances to the park, with the above coordinates being for one of the parking areas and boat launch.
Amenities are plentiful in the park. There is a walking/bicycle path, which is part of the Niagara Riverwalk, several restrooms and a fishing pier. A boat launch is available for use if you have a permit. Picnic tables are scattered throughout the park and can be used by anyone at anytime, free of charge. Many many benches line the Riverwalk.
Park hours are from dawn to 10PM. Leashed dogs are only allowed from 6AM-9AM from May 1-September 31, but any time during October to April.
