Beroun is a town in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. The town is part of the Prague metropolitan area. It is located 30 km southwest of Prague. It lies on the confluence of Berounka and Litavka rivers.
In August 2002 significant part of Beroun was flooded by the Berounka river.
The floods, which surpassed in size all the floods in the Czech Republic, which are kept historical records. 504 villages were flooded, a thousand homes and 73 bridges was destroyed and 220,000 people was evacuated. Prague was witnessed five hundred years flood.
