Mr. Hickman was born in Gainesville, Texas. He served in the U.S. Navy and attended Cooke County Junior College and the University of Texas in Arlington. He also studied in sculpture with Octavio Medellin from 1967-1979. Mr. Hickman teaches various classes and also does restoration projects for the City of Dallas and various antique dealers, besides doing his own sculptures. Mr. Hickman works with carved wood, stone, hammered metals and slumped glass to create original designs
