On Aug. 20, 1980, Franklin, armed with a rifle, hunkered in a field across the street from Liberty Park. As Ted Fields and David Martin jogged toward the park with two white teenage girls, he opened fire, killing Ted, 18, and 20-year-old David. Today, thirty years after he murdered two black joggers at Liberty Park, Joseph Paul Franklin lives on death row in a Missouri prison.
