From a street decent, but with beautiful courtyard with Renaissance arcades, it is one of two preserved Renaissance palaces in Brno historic centre - House of the Lords of Kunštát (Dum pánu z Kunštátu).
The palace origin dates back to the middle of the 14th century. At the end of the 16th century, the originally Gothic structure was reconstructed into a Renaissance palace by its owner Jan z Pernštejna (John of Pernštejn). For several years it served as the residence of the foremost Moravian nobility. In 1708, the last owner Maxmilián, the Lord of Deblín sold the palace to the city of Brno. Various offices operated here from the middle of the 18th century until World War II. In 1958 the House of Art of the city of Brno acquired the palace. After complex reconstruction in 2002 the palace serves as cultural centre and gallery.
