The Kansas State Bank building was built on the southeast corner of 2nd and Walnut Streets in 1887. The building was constructed by contractor W.H. Traver and was constructed by a crew of 20 men. The building is in a Richardsonian Romanesque style and is constructed of local limestone. The first floor was used by the bank and the second floor was finished into offices.
In 1931 the Peabody State Bank moved across the street and the building was converted to other commercial purposes. Currently the first floor is used by a restaurant. The second floor was unused for many years however in 1996 it was converted into two residential apartments.
