Monument to Battery I, 4th US Artillery, located in Snodgrass Field, at the Chickamauga National Battlefield, Ft. Oglethorpe, GA.

Sep. 19, 1863 Battery I, 4th US Artillery
1st Lieut F. G. Smith Comg of 3rd Brig,
3rd Div, 14th Corps, was engaged on the Reed’s Bridge Road a mile east of the McDonals house, from about 7:30 A.M. until afternoon. On Sept 20, 1863, it occupied positions on Snodgrass Hill throughout the day, being repeatedly engaged.

Loss – Killed and wounded
1 officer – 21 enlisted men
19 horses
