The Strong City depot was constructed beginning November 15, 1912 and was completed and ready for service June 13, 1913. The depot was constructed by the Atchison, Topeka, & Santa Fe Railway to serve as a combination depot with waiting rooms for passengers and freight handling facilities. The depot served the passenger and freight needs of Strong City and Chase County for several years. Passenger service was discontinued at the depot in the late 1940s. The railroad continued to use the depot for offices and storage until recent years. The depot is now vacant and is awaiting restoration.
The depot was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.
