Green Turtle Pond is a 40 acre body of water with a maximum depth of 25 feet. In addition to largemouth bass and trout, it has a the usual northern NJ assortment of sunfish, pickerel, catfish, yellow perch and crappie.
Shore fishing is allowed and there is a boat ramp. No gasoline motors are allowed. Note the dirt road that leads to the boat ramp is in very poor condition. A high clearance vehicle is recommended.
Recommended tackle: Ultra light, light or medium action spinning or bait casting rods
Recommended fishing methods: For bass, plastics, especially worms in dark colors Texas rigged, Carolina rigged or in the shallows, fished weightless. For trout, small spinners, Rapalas and other small crankbaits.
In the evenings when the trout are rising, flyfishing with dry flies can be productive.
