The house stands set back from the road with garden all around. The gravel drive forms a crescent in front. A lot of houses around the time, were built as retreats for Lancashire businessmen. A daily train commute would not be impossible as there was a branch line to Coniston, 1.5 miles north, which closed in 1970s. The house has been rendered and painted, hiding the slate walls.
