Before this Catholic mission-church was built, in 1904, the small congregation in Marlow would have to travel eight miles north to Rush Springs, where Mass was celebrated once every six weeks. The eight-mile journey could take three hours on the dirt, and often muddy, roads.

In 1904, this frame structure , 30 x 35 feet, was erected. The church was dedicated on November 22, 1904 as the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The following year a strong wind moved the building about 20 feet from its foundation and it had to be restored and placed on a second foundation. In 1947, the inside of the church was remodeled and stained glass windows were installed. In 1954, the outside was covered with asbestos shingles.

This church building was in continual use until 1997. A new church building was planned, and since the new building was to be placed on the same site as the old building, plans were made to tear down this old church. Some ladies in the church objected to that plan and received permission to give the building to the City of Marlow, to be preserved as an historical building. A "Save the Church" campaign was started and $20,000 was raised for the move and any necessary repairs. The move was made on Sunday, April 25, 1997 to its present site in Redbud Park. It was renamed Redbud Chapel and is currently used as a non-denominational chapel for weddings, memorial services and other family or community affairs.
