This is a nature preserve and hiking trail just off US 6 in Kendalville. A spur of the trail goes to Round Lake and there is a seat to enjoy the view. This preserve belongs to Acres and their website says this about it:
"The Detering farm was a "Green Grocer" farm for the Kendallville area, raising many kinds of vegetables for markets. The farm fields are slowly regenerating to hardwood forest and deer are a common sight. Wetlands edge the shoreline of Round Lake with shrubby cinquefoil, red osier dogwood and wild iris. In spring, an abundance of delicate redbud trees crown tall sedges and cattails." That website is here. (visit link)
