As the rail line from Bangkok to the far south of Thailand, winds its way through hill and dale, past rice paddies, water buffalo and tiny villages, it passes through the pleasant, small capital of Ratchaburi, ~80kms to the west of Bangkok. A quiet province of farms and light industry.
The station for this city is located to the south east of the city centre. In design it is the standard provincial Thai station, a central building with a ticket counter, and a waiting area along the track. The building looks to be of some age, but is in good repair. The station has the usual range of amenities, from toilets, food and drink, to sleepy tuk tuk drivers lounging outside.
