Rachaburi is a small town, and capital of the province of the same name, ~80kms west of Bangkok. A quiet area of farms and light industry.

This clock is found near the town centre, on a 'T' junction traffic island, and, according to the three plaques on the base (in gallery), it commemorates the 72nd birthday of the Queen of Thailand, Queen Sirikit, which occurred in 2004. This is the Queen's 'sixth cycle' birthday (6x12 years), a period of some importance in Thailand. The second plaque describes the history of the clock. The third plaque describes something which cannot be easily translated into English.

The clock is 20 plus metres high (estimated), of a rather attractive 'modern' style, and is three sided. Visible for a fair distance along the three streets.
