Engine No. 1796 was used in the Placer Basin area nearly 30 miles north-northwest of here. In the 1950’s it was restored and steamed down to Council by Merlin Naser and Hugh Addington. The engine was built by the Advance Thresher Company. The company was founded in 1881 in Battle Creek, Michigan and acquired by M. Rumely Company in 1911.
