Great Dunmow is a picturesque village with many listed heritage properties and it maintains the traditions of the past, most notably the Dunmow Flitch Trials, so it's not surprising that a Victorian era post box is still in in use.

On the sidewalk in a residential area of town, though the B184, North Street at this point, is quite a busy road.
