The Building
This library is a modest one-story brick building with about 7,000 volumes serving the rural central New Hampshire community of East Andover. There is no plaque or history of the library's founding or for current building itself.
The Man

"William Bachelder was educated in the common schools and New London Academy at New London, New Hampshire. He assisted his father on the homestead farm, and in time inherited the property. He served as superintendent of schools and was a member of the Free Baptist Church. William was a Republican from the formation of that party, also a member of King Solomon Lodge, Free and Accepted Masons, at Andover, and of the local lodge of Odd Fellows." William Adams Bachelder
Bachelder's son, Nahum Josiah Bachelder, later became the 49th governor of the state of New Hampshire.
