The small town of Chachoengsao lies 50kms or so to the east of Bangkok. A town not replete with major attractions, it does have one of the larger Buddhist wats in the world—Wat Sothon. The town lies on the west bank of the Bang Pakong River, which winds its way slowly south to the Gulf of Thailand.

On this river, in the wat grounds, is a small ferry station. I did not have an opportunity to take a trip on one of these ferries, but I am fairly certain that they carry folk along the shores of the town itself (I saw another, smaller, ferry landing in the town market), across the river to the town 'burbs', and most likely up and down the river to nearby towns and villages.

This ferry landing was the busiest and largest I saw in the town. The wat is a major local attraction in the province, and in the general area. I suspect, though am not certain, that the ferry operates for 12 months of the year.
