This new and beautiful wat is located in the small town of Chachoengsao, ~50kms to the east of Bangkok.

The temple enshrines the ‘Luangpho Phuttha Sothon,’ the Buddha image of Chachoengsao province. This image is held in great reverence by the people of Chachoengsao, and in Thailand as a whole. According to popular account it was swept on the river to the city. It is the centrepiece of the wat.

This temple has, what might be, the largest ubosoth (monk ordination hall) of any Buddhist temple in the world. Construction of this wat required 15 years. The peak is 84m high. It is decorated with five golden umbrellas weighing a total of 77 kgs.

The waymark was made at the main entrance to the wat, on the main road.

The wat is always busy with both local people and Thais from Bangkok and neighbouring provinces, who come to pray to the Buddha image and to pay their respects.
