Vrane dam was built between 1930-1936 as the first part of the Vltava Cascade. Its main purpose is to control runoff Vltava Cascade.
The dam has four spillway fields. You can find this dam at 71 river's kilometers of Vltava river.
The dam was put into operation in 1936. Its operation is remotely controlled from Štechovice, there is the central control all the Vltava Cascade. It is equipped with two Kaplan turbines with a total installed capacity of 2 x 6.94 MW. The dam has an output of just 13.88 MW, which is the least of all the dams belonging to the Vltava Cascade.
