The smallish (60,000 people) town of Chachoengsao, ~60kms to the east of Bangkok, has a surprisingly large and busy bus station, located on the western edge of the town (not too far from the train station).
The station follows the usual design to be found in Thailand. A long, rectangular, covered, waiting area, surrounded by bus bays. At one end (the north in this case) the ticketing area, on the other, a few small retailers selling food and drink, and bits and pieces. Around this building are the usual retinue of 'motor cycle taxi drivers', and tuk tuks waiting to whisk you around the town. It is 2kms or so to the river, so best to avail yourself of one of these fine chaps (when I visited in April 2011 the tuk tuk drivers charged me the same fare as a local—without haggling! Clearly, a town unaffected by the burden of tourism.)
This is the provincial bus station, so buses arrive and depart here from Bangkok, from the neighbouring provinces, as well as 'local' buses conveying people to towns and villages within the province.
