Japanese have lived in this community since 1914. The Japanese community earned retail store in the community, including a tofu shop. During WWII, racial segregation took place and children of Asian decent where schooled in different schools than the whites.
Today the Japantown is small, with narrow streets and some Japanese businesses still in operation.
