Shawnee has a rich history and its buildings have been maintained to show off its historic past. A portion of its original brick streets has even been placed on the National Register of Historic Places.
One of the locations highlighted here is Van's Pig Stand. No visit to Shawnee is complete without a meal at Van's for barbecue. There is a second location out east of town on Harrison, but the main location at 717 E. Highland is the place to go for nostalgia. Just look for the neon Pig.
