This station is a US Geological Survey standard bench mark disk, located in the Townsend Harbor section of Townsend, MA. It is located at the junction of Main Street (Rt 119) and South Street, and the tracks of the defunct Boston and Maine Shirley Townsend and Mason line.The mark is set in the north concrete wall of a canal adjacent a grist mill, and alongside the railroad tracks. It is at the crook of this wall, about 1/2 inch below flush with the surface. According to the original description:
AT TOWNSEND HARBOR, 1000 EAST OF POST OFFICE, 270 FT. EAST OF C&GS AND STATE SURVEY STA. NO. 60-O 1935, 110 FT. EAST OF SOUTH STREET, 15 FT. SOUTH OF RAILROAD TRACK, 50 FT SOUTH OF ROUTE 119, IN SPAULDING GRIST MILL.
South Street was used in place of Warner Street, according to Google Maps.
The mark 60 O 1935 is Waymark #WMB3V5.
